Recommendations and Applications Open for Rising Leaders for Results Fellowship
The Annie E. Casey Foundation is seeking suggestions of candidates and application submissions for its inaugural Rising Leaders for Results Fellowship — a leadership development program for leaders ages 24 to 31. Ideal candidates are talented, highly motivated young professionals with a commitment to promoting racial equity and pursuing results on behalf of children, youth, families and communities.
About the Rising Leaders for Results Fellowship
The Rising Leaders for Results Fellowship is a 21-month, multi-session program that provides opportunities to leaders early in their careers to sharpen and deepen their leadership skills, expand their horizons, advocate for themselves and grow their networks to accelerate their impact now and over the arc of their careers. Young people created and designed the program along with Casey staff and faculty.
This Fellowship is rooted in Casey’s Results Count® leadership development approach and seeks to make an investment early on in young leaders’ careers by preparing them to powerfully take up their role as results-driven and equity-focused leaders. Participants also develop close connections with the Casey Foundation and have access to resources to support their ongoing leadership development. Information on the Fellowship, including selection criteria and a program calendar, is available at www.aecf.org/risingleaders.
What to Expect
The Fellowship program begins in November 2023 and ends in July 2025 and includes eight in-person seminars, webinars and coaching by faculty, among other formats to deepen learning and connection. While balancing the demands of their current positions, Fellows apply the lessons they are learning within their respective home organizations. The Casey Foundation funds the cost of program participation. Additionally, the Foundation will provide $8,000 over time in the form of unrestricted grant funds to each participant’s organization as an acknowledgment of the support of the organization for this investment in the rising leader. For participants who are self-employed, the Foundation will provide $8,000 over their time in the program, recognizing that program participation may conflict with some income-generating opportunities.
Recommending Candidates and Who May Apply
The Foundation is looking for diverse, energetic young professionals between the ages of 24 and 31, especially young leaders of color, who desire to grow personally and professionally. We recognize that such emerging leaders are already working in organizations and governmental agencies, leading movements, pursuing entrepreneurism and using their voices and talents in creative ways — and advancing equity and justice.
Suggestions of potential candidates must be submitted no later than Aug. 31, 2023. Recommended candidates are then invited to complete a full application online, which must be submitted by Sept. 11, 2023. Candidates also are welcome to apply directly by the Sept. 11 deadline without being recommended. The application and selection process provides a variety of ways — written short answers, creative expression and, for finalists, virtual interviews and small-group activities — for applicants to share their reasons for wanting to participate in this opportunity and their career aspirations.
